I am sure that you have heard that you need to write down your goals. Many people and myself included don’t. I figured that I would just think them up and it was ok because I had them in my mind.
If you really want success in your MLM business then you need to physically sit down and write out your goals on paper. Studies have shown that if you don’t write them down they do not come to fruition. I understand now why the vast majority of my goals did not come true. I thought that just having them in my mind was good enough.
When I started writing down my goals I started accomplishing them. You need to get straight and write down your goals if you really want to attain them.
The first thing you need to do is sit down and take a good look at yourself. What are your personal and business goals? There are lots of great resources on developing goals. Are you really satisfied with where you are in life? Are you satisfied with what you have accomplished so far in your life? You need to tell the truth you are talking only to yourself, you don’t have to tell anyone else but take a good look at yourself.
For your life to have real meaning you have to have a purpose. If you are to fulfill that purpose then you need goals and then form an activity plan to get you there. You really need to take goal setting very seriously. You really need goals in every area of your life to truly be successful.
You need to set short term and long term goals and then accomplish them one step at a time. Write down your goals and then form a plan to achieve them. Then commit yourself to accomplishing what you set out to do. I love what George Zalucki says, “Commitment is doing the thing you said you would do, long after the mood you said it in has left you!”
Don’t let anything stop you from achieving your goals! Unpleasant feelings, frustrations, fatigue, anxiety, rejection, inadequacy or even helplessness will come along but don’t let it stop you! Everyone that has ever succeeded in life has experienced all of these things and came out the other side because they made a commitment and stuck with it.
Don’t be a quitter, look around whatever company you are in. Are there people succeeding in that company? Then you can too if you just do what it takes and get it done. You should set up a target, organize your plan of attack, get determined, and then get into action. Success won’t have a chance of eluding you. With the commitment and action it will surrender to you.
Set big goals don’t be afraid to dream big. Most people underestimate themselves and their abilities and overestimate the difficulties facing them. Think of a time when you were facing something in your life that you thought was so huge, and when it was over you said that was not such a big deal. Truth is that is most things that you will encounter.
Decide what you want and then concentrate on it until you achieve it. Surrender to your purpose and not worry about the emotions and other things that will jump in your way. Take action and don’t give up!

Last week, our morning huddle leader, Emily Nauseda, gave each team member a stack of papers. As we passed them around, I curiously looked through mine piecing together that our discussion would be about goal setting. The anticipation made me anxious because goal setting has been an interest of mine since I became a fan of motivational speaker, Brian Tracy.
Emily gave us all 10 minutes to fill out our packets. There were six sections. I furiously began writing down the most important things to me, my unique personal qualities, and finally a sentence summarizing my perfect world. It was really fascinating to have my passions written out right in front of me. They’ve always been in the back of my mind, but something about seeing them on paper made them appear much more real—like I could actually make them happen.
After our huddle I went back to work, yet all day I noticed a smile creeping on my face whenever I glanced at the goal packet in the corner of my desk. I left work that day eager to— as strange as it sounds—start planning my future. I went to my room and found my old, dusty, outdated goals I had written about a year ago. I laughed looking at them since my life had changed drastically in the past 12 months— including my career switch from broadcast journalism to public relations.
Using my new goal packet, I decided it was time to update what my perfect world would like. I used my favorite goal setting template and wrote out two different sections. The first was my vision for what my life could look like 10 years from today; married with kids, house on the water, PR professional. Then I got down to the challenging part. It’s always easy to say what you want to have, (i.e. the nice car you want to drive), but those things aren’t realistic without smaller successes along the way. This is where goal setting comes in. Goal setting is not dreaming about what you want your future to be, it is envisioning the milestones you will need to achieve to make your dreams happen. The goal setting is what makes your vision become a reality. I have a card from my mother that hangs above my desk at home which reads, “What would you do if you knew you could not fail?” I asked myself this when writing my goals and my head began spinning with thoughts, “I’d write a book, become a VP of communications, travel to all seven continents, run a marathon in under four hours…”
After much thought, I began the final section which I titled “one year goals,” “five year goals” and “ten year goals”. Since achieving your goals is all about taking intentional actions, I worked backwards from my large goal of co-authoring a book with my mother to smaller goals. In one year, I will have an article published in a local magazine. In five years I will own a lifestyle blog. In 10 years, I will have a book published. For the next few hours, I broke down all of my big dreams to create attainable goals, guiding my path to success. I loved that I was able to visually break my big, audacious goals into small pieces. What once seemed abstract now seemed completely within my reach.
In developing my vision and goal setting I feel much more at peace for where I am for now in my life. Our morning huddle discussion not only fascinated me but ended up lighting a fire under my chair. I have already set in motion my one year goals and am so excited to see their outcome at this time next year. So, after my own positive goal setting experience, I greatly encourage you to sit down by yourself for a few minutes and write out your own goals. As Brian Tracy says, “Goals in writing are dreams with deadlines.” So grab a pen and paper and start setting your future in motion. After all, you only have one life.

CrossFit and Law Enforcement – A Winning Force

That’s what I tell myself every single time. It doesn’t matter if I hate the lift, or if I suck at it.
Be Present.
It can be the warm-up after a really long day. Or it can be snatches and double unders, or Murph. It can also be a practice clean with a PVC pipe or it can be a 90kg on a 1RM deadlift.
Be Present.
If I approach a warm-up or a WOD without being present, I suck. I must forget about my life, my problems, and my current state of mind, or my chances of crushing that movement or WOD will blow up in my face.
It’s like when I watch CrossFitters doing the WOD in class before me. There’s a difference between those that are Present and those that are not. The Present ones crush the workout and are oblivious to everything around them. It doesn’t matter if they finish first or last; that’s not the point (Okay, not the whole point). But they care more about controlling their minds and for that, they finish strong. The Non-Present ones struggle from the getco. They probably will make it through the first set unbroken, but after that, it’s usually an uphill battle. They take rests and look around (stealthily), measuring how much work they need to finish to not come in last. They do just enough to salvage their egos.
If you’re not present, you won’t learn to love a movement you currently hate. And hate is a powerful deterrent to progress. If you’re present, you’ll learn to lose yourself in snatches and learn to love landing with that bar above your head.
Take everything head-on and give it your all. Life won’t reward you for going around a problem; it will make you stronger for wading through it. If you’re present, you’ll clear the mud for 1 RM in Snatches, and PB’s in Diane and Fran.
